Socialization & General Care
- Be certain to completely support your snake’s body when picking it up.
- Allow your snake 3-4 days to adjust to his new habitat before handling.
- Snakes will shed their skin. The first sign of shedding is usually dulling of the skin (milky coloured).
- Reptiles may transmit disease to humans; make certain to wash your hands after cleaning your pet’s habitat or after handling.

Nutrition
- King, milk and corn snakes are carnivores, meaning that their diets consist solely of meat.
- Snakes should be fed rodents weekly. Frozen mice or rats are recommended, and should be thawed out prior to feeding them to your snake.
- Feed your snake with tongs, gently dangling the mouse or rat by the tail.
- Fresh water should be available at all times and water dishes should be cleaned daily.
Health Issues to Watch For
- Eating or drinking less
- Runny, discoloured or pungent stool
- Weight loss
- Avoiding the basking area
- Shedding difficulties
